Sylhet Govt. Pilot High School Alumni Association

The Sylhet Government Pilot High School is one of the fourth oldest schools in Bangladesh as well as one of the oldest in Indian Subcontinent. It is also the first established high school of what is now Bangladesh. In the British Period when Total Sylhet needed the light of education for greater good, then British Government & our proud Sylhety Leaders decided to establish an institution which will give the light of pathway of Higher Education for total Sylhet region. In this circumstances in 1836 by the riverside of Surma in Kalighat area of Sylhet City, established The Sylhet Government Pilot High School. During Last 186 years this school created a history to developed educated & renowned generation in this region.

Sylhet Government Pilot High School celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2010 at the school campus. Many students of this school subsequently graduated from Oxford University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), University of Dhaka and SUST.

Nobel alumni of this school are Syed Mujtaba Ali (Writer), M. A. G. Osmani (Army Chief), Hasan Mashud Chowdhury (Chief of Army Stuff), Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed National Professor Brigadier Dr. Abdul Malik (Heart Specialist), Humayun Rashid Choudhury (Parliament Speaker), Khalilur Rahman (Actor), Shuvro Dev (Singer), Abul Maal Abdul Muhith (Politician) and Amit Bikrom Deb (Scientist NASA) etc.
